The success story that began in spring this year with issue no.1 will continue with issue no.4 of The Swiss farmer publishing house (Schweizer Bauer Verlag), rounding off the year with many exciting articles. Especially when it's particularly cosy indoors, you should make time for fine food. For example, chocolate from the Zurich-based manufacturer Laflor, which only uses cocoa beans from farmers it knows personally to make its high-quality bars. The topic of farmyard killing is also caught between pleasure and pause. Nils Müller from "Chalte Hose" practises a special form of this. He shoots the animals from a high seat directly from the herd - after which he pauses for a moment next to the animal in reverence. For the farmer, butcher and hunter, one thing is certain: if he eats meat, then only meat like this. Puralpina from Frutigen in the Bernese Oberland is also all about hunting. Here, marmot fat from hunted animals is processed into a healing ointment. At the same time, the founders are breaking new ground and focusing on a plant-based cosmetics line that is supposed to be so pure that it could be eaten. Although Swiss wool cannot be eaten, it is experiencing a real boom. This is thanks to the "Swisswool" label founded by Friedrich Baur - it not only keeps us warm on cold winter days, but also makes our homes cosy and comfortable. Cold winter days are also a wonderful time to pause for a moment. The presenter, journalist and farmer's daughter Mona Vetsch tells us that although she is not yet very good at pausing, she likes to enjoy her own vegetables and can really take a deep breath in the garden.
